"Ancient medicine had wisdom without microscopy. Modern medicine has microscopy without mythology."
I use both.

medical traditions
The foundation
Modern medicine
MRCGP-trained family physician. Rigorous clinical base — diagnostics, evidence, the science of what's measurable.

The depth
Functional & lifestyle medicine
Root cause over symptom suppression. Metabolic mapping, gut health, hormones, inflammation — the terrain beneath the diagnosis.

The wisdom
Eastern systems
Ayurveda and acupuncture — studied for the principles, not the prescriptions. Pattern recognition developed over millennia.

The intersection
Where it comes together
Each system trained a different kind of attention. Modern medicine taught measurement. Functional medicine taught root causes. Eastern systems taught pattern and context.
The lens
Food as data
15 years of food writing across 6 continents. Every meal an observation. Cuisine as a window into culture, gut diversity, and metabolic flexibility.
The application
Longevity medicine
Not a protocol. A way of thinking. Intervene before pathology. Map the terrain. Tilt the odds. Personalise relentlessly.
The philosophy
Trade-offs, not rules
The rasamalai at midnight is a metabolic event and a cultural one. A longevity framework that only sees the glucose misses most of what matters.

The story

How I got here.

2008

Chennai Foody launches

"I didn't know I was building an audience. I thought I was just eating."

A food blog born from genuine obsession. No strategy, no monetisation plan — just a doctor who couldn't stop writing about what he ate. At its peak, 50,000 monthly readers. Six continents eaten in.

2012

Longevity before it had a name

"Long before 'biohacking' was a word anyone used seriously, I was measuring hsCRPs and running hyperbaric oxygen sessions in my clinic."

Most doctors were waiting for disease to arrive. I was trying to prevent the conditions that created it. The science wasn't new — the question was just being asked earlier.

2019

Doc Crates conceived at MIT BOSTON, born in Chennai

"We built something we wished existed as doctors."

Born from an MIT Boston bootcamp, Doc Crates made it easier for people to understand and act on their own health data. IIT-K India Top 10 Startups 2023.

2023

Acquired by Deep Holistics

"I joined because they were building the infrastructure for something I'd been thinking about for years."

Doc Crates acquired May 2023. Now Chief Medical and Scientific Officer at Deep Holistics. Making sure everything we do is grounded in honest, rigorous science.

Now

Writing at the intersection

"Food and medicine were always the same conversation. It just took me fifteen years to say it out loud."

Preventive and longevity medicine. Food writing. The trade-offs nobody talks about. This site is where those threads come together.
